Construction and rennovations are all over Walt Disney World right now. Most of it is moving along nicely. Some of it is not. Here’’s an update of all the construction I can think of:
Disney-MGM Studios:
Within the past two weeks, the giant Sorcerer Mickey hat, which will be the centerpiece of the celebration of Walt Disney’’s 100th birthday, has nearly topped off. The hat is finally pointed at the top and actually looks like a hat now. The ears have yet to be built.
The Tower of Terror is undergoing a bit of maintenance right now. Just above the Hollywood Tower Hotel sign, between the two elevator shafts, there is some scaffolding covered up by a large sheet of the same color as the building.
The Rock ”n” Rollercoaster closed at 7pm yesterday rather than with the park’’s closing at 9pm. A slight renovation is expected.
Magic Kingdom:
The Aladdin ride at the Magic Kingdom is complete and going to open soon, if it has not already.
The construction on Main Street is continuing at a slow pace. Nothing new to report there.
Epcot:
Mission: Space is moving along nicely. Much of the main building has been erected, as well as a large spherical dome in front of it. According to the preview center, there are roughly 700 days until opening.
Animal Kingdom:
I have not personally visited Animal Kingdom since March, but various sources report that construction on Dino-Rama has come to a near halt.
