Remember back when Disney Channel was a Pay Station? Remember when Disney Channel Movies were just the Wonderful World of Disney’s films? Well if so this brings me to my next point, and if not, then keep reading.
Mr. Boogedy was one of those all time Disney T.V. classics for Halloween. If you are afan of Halloweentown and its’ sequels you will love Mr. Boogedy and the sequel Bride of Boogedy. Released on April 20, 1986 this film was featured on the Disney Sunday night Movie. The film centers around a novelty salesman moves his family into a new house and they soon discover that the house is haunted by people that lived there 300 years earlier. The goal of the film to get rid of Boogedy or befriend him. The film features a young Kristy Swanson and non other than John Astin. The family freindly film is perfect for those looking for a nice Happy Haunt Halloween.
The picture is very hard to find on Video and DVD copies of the film haven’t been released yet. one can only hope that in the wake of releasing Disney Halloween films and DCOM movies this one will see the light of day. It was followed up in 1987 with Bride of Boogedy.
In Bride of Boogedy, Mr. Boogedy, a 300-year-old ghost looks for a bride in this Disney film. While searching, he mischievously disrupts the festivities of the New England town in which he lives. Once again his loving mortal family must help him.
I have been lucky enough to have these gems on Video and Transfered my copies to DVd at home. If you search Ebay you may find a Video here or there, or maybe even at your local Video Store who carries older titles and videos for that matter. But if you can…add Mr. Boogedy and Bride of Boogedy to your Halloween viewing.
Happy Haunts,

I don’t remember much about either movie. I do remember some scenes and the fact that the movie scared me when I was a kid. I wish Disney would release these films on video. It took me many years to figure out what the title of the movie was. I really want to see these movies again. Hopefully Disney will take this into consideration.

I hope so too. They were great things in 80s Disney TV. I am lucky enouigh to have them on video. But they are seeing their day now. The film will probably break anytime soon.

I remember Mr. Boogedy vaguely, I thought as a little kid that this was the scariest movie ever. I think old movies like this are an original and a classic. I hope that they do consider putting this movie onto DVD or VHS soon.

I remember watching the first movie everytime it was on. A few years ago I tried to find the movie, but rec’d a response back from Disney letting me know that it was a made for TV movie and was not on Video. I was so disappointed. Now that I have children of my own I think of Mr. Boogedy every Halloween. Funny how one can remember things like that so many years later. If these ever come to DVD/Video I will be one of the first to buy them. I would love to sit with my kids and watch it together. Right about now would be the time!

My thoughts echo everyone else’s…a tradition was to watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Mr. Boogedy! I was surprised to learn it wasn’t released on video or DVD since it was obviously popular enough to rerun it year after year. They released Eerie, Indiana for chrissakes!!! I would definitely buy these two movies on DVD. I guess I am at that age where I want to be surrounded by all the things that vividly stick out in my mind from childhood!! Bring it BACK!!

I love Mr. Boogedy Man. I just was reminded on it being on retrojunk.com. My sister and I searched and found a bootleg copy on DVD. However, we think it would be great to release it. It’s the BEST movie in the 80’s. It would be awesome!

Please put out on TV or release on VHS/DVD if possible. This is a classic! I had forgotten what the title of these movies were for years and tried to figure it out. Well, I finally researched it and found the titles out yet they are no where to be found or sold. They sell at the drop of a hat apparently when someone puts it out there to buy. This is such a great flick to have around for years to come because movies today are just not as they use to be from the earlier years and I’m speaking from a young stand point too. I really want to buy these if there is anyway possible!

I have been looking for these movies for my son. I just found out recently that they were made for tv only, I think many people would love to share the spooky kid movie that they loved in the 80s with their children today. I hope this movie is released soon before my son is too old to be spooked by it. I can’t even seem to find a bootleg copy that I hear so many people have. I would love to share the experience of this movie with my children.

So, when it comes out on DVD, I definitely wanna buy both of them — Mr. Boogedy and Bride of Boogedy for sure!!! It would be great to watch it all over again like old times! PLEASE let it come out on DVD w/ subtitle or closed caption.

I am soooo happy to see that other people remember these movies… they were by far two of my favorites growing up… I would pay good money to have mr. boogedy and bride of boogedy on dvd… I think it is too bad that disney does not want to put them out there until they feel they can make the most money possible… give us something… we should be able to enjoy a part of our childhood… plus I agree… there really isnt much out there for younger kids anymore… if anyone finds a copy dvd or vhs please please please let me know … Thanks CC

Who could forget such a cool movie! I was a little girl when I first saw it and I have been searching ALL OVER for the DVD. Come to find out that it hasn’t even been released!? Who could think of a reason to NOT sell it? Disney has kept it hiding in the “vault” for TOO long! Put Bambi back in, take Boogedy out! Thank you for listening my fellow THIRD EYE fans!

I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!!!!!! HEY, GUYS, I FINALLY FOUND BRIDE OF BOOGEDY (FULL MOVIE, VIDEO AND SOUND ARE ALMOST VHS QUALITY).. I HAVE BEEN A MOVIE FAN/FREAK SINCE I WAS A LITTLE KID AND I USED TO COPY ALMOST EVERY MOVIE THAT WAS SHOWN ON TV AND ALMOST EVERY MOVIE I RENTED ON MY LOCAL VIDEO RENTAL.. THE OTHER NIGHT I CAME TO REALIZE THAT THE FACT TO HAVE AROUND 2000 VIDEO TAPES (VHS) COULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO START ANOTHER LONG AND STRESSFULL SEARCH.. THEN, I REMEMBERED THAT I HAD A NOTEBOOK WITH ALL THE TAPES I HAD AND THE MOVIES I COPIED ON THEM.. AND SUDDENLY, THERE IT WAS.. BRIDE OF BUGEDY (TAPE #178).. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES.. IT WAS ON THAT SHELF FOR ALMOST 14 YEARS AND IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH, IT DIDN’T TAKE MORE THAN 5 MINUTES TO CLEAN THE TAPE AND HAVING IT ROLLING ON MY VHS PLAYER.. IT WAS ON THAT MOMENT WHEN I REMEMBERED THAT IT WAS ME WHO COPIED IT WHEN THEY PASSED IT ON TV.. AND BECAUSE I STORE ALL MY CD’S, VHS’S AND DVD’S ON SEALED PACKAGES, THE MOVIE LOOKS MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OF THE THREE VERSIONS SOLD OVER THE INTERNET (BELIEVE ME, I BOUGHT ALL THREE VERSIONS AND THERE IS NO COMPARISON AT ALL).. THEY ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE.. FOR MOST OF YOU, THE ONLY DETAIL WOULD BE THE LANGUAGE.. I LIVE IN PUERTO RICO, SO THE MOVIE IS IN SPANISH.. I’M GOING TO BE FAMOUS BECAUSE I SEEM TO BE THE ONLY ONE WITH AN ALMOST PERFECT COPY, AND ALSO BECAUSE I KNOW MANY, MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR IT (AND WOULD PAY ANYTHING FOR IT TOO).. NOW, THE ONLY TWO TASKS THAT I HAVE LEFT, IS TO HAVE IT TRANSFERED TO A DVD AND FIND THE FIRST PART (MR. BOOGEDY).. I’M ALMOST CERTAIN THAT I HAVE IT SOMEWHERE ON THAT SHELF BUT IT IS GOING TO TAKE A LONG TIME TO FIND IT.. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE OF YOU ON YOUR SEARCH.. I HOPE YOU MAKE IT AND NOW……………… I’M GOING TO START THE TRANSFER TO A DVD AND WATCH IT AT THE SAME TIME (FOR THE FOURTH TIME) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… GOD BLESS THOSE RECORD BUTTONS..

I have been searching and searching for classic Disney movies like Mr. Boogedy, Bride of Boogedy, Halloween Treat and many others and keep coming up with the same results–NADA. It is my hope that Disney will be so gracious as to release these and other greats on to DVD so that we can share them with our new families and be able to enjoy them again. Most of my greatest memories as a kid were watching The Wonderful World of Disney and would definitely like to revisit those soon. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RELEASE THOSE CLASSICS FOR THE TRUE DISNEY FANS!!!

Hey all, Would any of you be interested in the foam appliance that was used in these movies. I have aquired the molds for the face and chin of Mr. Boogedy. The face cast is of Howard Witt who played him in the movies. I have run a new batch of foam in the molds and produced a copy of the makeup. It is even wearable if you want to glue it on your face. Please let me know. Thanks, Eric

I am lucky enough to have Bride of Boogedy on VHS, but it has seen better days (complete with disney intro with michael eisner in the house, hehe)…. I don’t know if I ever saw the first one, but at one point I knew every line of the movie word for word…. I still remember a lot of it..point is, get this out on DVD!! They are putting all sorts of crap out on DVD, something good should come out once in a while! I have flight of the navigator, why not these??!

I really wish they would bring Mr. Boogedy & Bride of Mr. Boogedy onto DVD… I know my kids would loooove them… They were the perfect “scary” movies when I was a young child…. Enough to make you want a nightlight on, but not enough to scare you half to death into nightmares lol… I think it would even be better almost if they re-made them and also re-relased the old ones together….Either way, they should totally bring them back !

When my wife and I first started dating I jokingly tried to scare her in the dark by saying “Boogedy Boogedy Boo…just kidding!”, and she thought I was one in a million. Apparently she loved that movie and didn’t think anyone else knew about it! It’s been such a long time since I first saw that movie but that catchphrase has always stuck with me. I sure hope Disney listens to their loyal fans and re-releases these awesome Halloween classics. I would love to be able to share a piece of my childhood with my young children when they are slightly older.

I love both of these movies and have not seen either of them in almost 23 years, I lived in San Jose, Ca when they came out and I went to an awesome school called Seven Trees elementary. Me and my friends that lived in the condo’s that were in my neighborhood all loved them and watched them well beyond Halloween. If I could find them I would be overjoyed, I told my neice about them and she really wants to enjoy at least one of ‘em. I wish the movies today by Disney could match he imagination of the movies that came out in my youth. Disney is now just a bunch of overgrown 11 yearolds dressing like 18 yearolds. Too grown up for my neioce and too dumb for me to enjoy….Sad.
