Well we all know about the Haunted Mansion and the great Grim Grinning Ghosts…but what about this collectible that I have in my collection. This LP is the definative in Classic Disney LPs. This record was one of my favorites when I was a kid. disney actually released 3 versions of Haunted House Records. This is just one of them. My favorite one has the Disney Story of Donald Duck in “Trick or Treat” narrated by Witch Hazel and on the flip side of the album you get to hear a young…yes young, Ron Howard. You heard me right, the Happy Days, Andy Griffith star who turned director and brought us How the Grinch Stole Christmas and more.
During the track we follow Ron and his girlfriend thorugh a grand tour of the Haunted Mansion. They are seeking cover from the rain and relaize that they are welcomed by a Ghost Host. He narrates as he takes them and us through the Haunted Mansion, and we even get to hear “Grim Grinning Ghosts.” This is one to pick up for sure, you can usually catch it on ebay often, but they don’t last long and they go for a good price. I have transferred mine to an audio CD and man do my nieces LOVE IT.
Happy Haunts,

The album you posted a picture of, “Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House” is fantastic. By far the best “haunted house” record I have ever heard. Note that this album has nothing to do with the Haunted Mansion. It was basically a Disney attempt at making a really scary record, and they succeeded.
The back of the LP jacked has a warning that says “This album will scare your socks off”. They weren’t kidding - it can be really scary for kids.
I bought this album as a grade-school kid at Sears back in the late 70’s.
In the early 90’s I tried finding this on CD at Disneyland, and nobody had even heard of this thing.
I would LOVE to get my hands on a CD version of this, but they don’t seem to ever have made one. Although I took really good care of the LP back in the day, it’s still got crackles, etc. A CD version would really do it justice…

As you may see by my website I have made a web page featuring this album if anyone wants a listen. As you may see I have many other Disney Haunted House or Haunted Mansion albums also uploaded to listening pages. They are all awesome albums. I never have made any of them into CD quality recordings though. I kind of like that crackle and pop sound myself. Let’s me feel like I’m listening to the album. Hope everyone enjoys.
