Well, although Eisner has left Disney and there is a new man in charge….he has left his mark once again on the Disney Company. The Walt Disney Headquarters building in Burbank, CA was renamed today as “TEAM DISNEY – THE MICHAEL EISNER BUILDING.” in honor of Eisner who was Chief Executive for 21 years until he retired in the fall.
Although Eisner’s last years at Disney weren’t as fullfilling as his first I do believe that he was the reason that Disney is where it is today after the Death of Uncle Walt. The company was on the verge of declaring bankruptcy, selling off rights to films and characters and more until Eisner came into the scene and revamped Disney and saved it. Many will disagree with me on this one, but I believe he deserves the recognition here and it is fitting that the building it renamed for him. He “Saved Disney” in my eyes and made it what it is in the current times today. Yes, he had some bad calles in recent years…but a 21 year run had to end at some point. He kept Disney as Disney. I can only hope that the new chief will do the same.
