The Expedition Everest attraction, set to open April 7 at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. This is the first major E-Ticket Attraction set to open in almost 2.5 years!!!

Expedition Everest features a train navigating an 80-foot drop, rumbling over bridges and through valleys backward and forward to escape the YETI, which has twisted and broken the tracks. Everest doesn’t have any loops and isn’t quite as a White Knuckle Trip as some would like but if it is anything like one of my favorites…SPACE MOUNTAIN, then I am there. This could also be the attraction to draw people to the Animal Kingdom which tends to suffer more than the other three Disney World Parks.

The Everest attraction, billed as a family thrill ride with a 44-inch height limit, could scarcely be more different than Disney’s last big-ticket item, the rocket-simulating Mission: Space. Equipped with vomit bags, the ride uses a centrifuge and re-creates two times the force of gravity while taking riders on a simulated trip to Mars.

The part of Everest that is captivating to me is the “the village” which includes a tourism booking office, Tashi’s General Store, a Bar, and a warehouse used as a yeti museum. These Que Line pieces really add to the realism and the great pre-ride storytelling I have grown to love at the Disney parks and others have come to expect out of Disney. From the line to the Exit Disney is always tellign a story and with Everest they do it well again.

Well until it open and until you get there to check it out…you can always check it out on INSIDE THE MAGIC PODCAST but if you don’t want any spoilers, just wait until you get there to check out what I think will be a new era of Animal Kingdom.
