Well, with Disney Channel Movies popping out so fast your head would turn, it seems High School Musical has hit something with the viewers and Disney Fans. Disney’s High School Musical has been on the Billboard top 200 in NUMBER ONE IN THE COUNTRY for the SECOND TIME!!!! A Disney Channel Movie in the top 200? The soundtrack is in its 10th week of release, has sold over 135,000 copies and has already gone 2x Platinum! The High School Musical Soundtrack has been number one on the Digital Albums Charts, has been in the Top 3 for the past 4 weeks, and has been in the Top 10 for the bast 6 weeks. And, you can find the song, from the soundtrack,”Getcha Head In Da Game” by B5 playing all over ESPN during their basketball games, commericials, and promos.

Why all this hype for a DCOM Movie? I think that with Disney going to a Musical format they did something they haven’t done in a long time….CREATE ORIGINAL MUSIC that is MEMORABLE. I think that this originality, and music element brought into a contemporary muscial has hit a note with the current viewers of Disney Channel. It gives many something they have never had a chance to experience “ORIGINAL GOOD MUSIC FROM A DISNEY MOVIE.”

Yes, it is a DCOM film but at least Disney may realize that music is a part of what makes Disney, well, Disney. I say, let more originaal music flow through to your animated films, live action and once again regain the Disney Music Title.
