What more can you say about Disney’s Peter Pan? In a world where classic is thrown around way too much it actually earns that distinction. It does this by taking James Barrie’s beloved story and making it more magical. You say you have never seen it? Well lucky for you the Disney Vault has been thrown open and both the picture and sound have been lovingly restored. But they didn’t stop there. This Two-Disc Platinum Edition DVD is so chocked full of extras that you will be wishing you were on that long line in Fantasyland, waiting to board a flying ship to Never Land.

As I stated, the picture has been digitally restored and looks great on both my standard and Enhanced Definition TV — Much cleaner and crisper then my old VHS copy. If you have a home theater system you will be happy to hear the all-new Dolby Digital 5.1 enhanced theater mix that will have you looking for clicking crocodiles behind your couch.

That covers the main movie, now take a gander at this impressive list of Extras (no skimping by Disney):

- Never before seen alternate opening told through storyboard
- Audio commentary hosted by Roy Disney
- Deleted Song: “The Pirate Song” and “Never Land”: The Lost Song
- 2 Music Videos “Never Land” Performed by Paige O’Hara and “The Second Star to the Right” Performed by T-Squad
- A Peter Pan Read-a-Long – Watch the movie and read along to all the parts. A great feature that will allow your kids to act along to the movie
- Fun Games: Smee’s Sodoku Challenge – Use simple symbols to play finish puzzle,Tarrget Practice and Tink’s Fantasy Flight
- The Making of Peter Pan
- In Walt’s Words “Why I Made Peter Pan” (especially awesome)
- The 1952 Featurette “The Peter Pan Story”
- Art Galleries – Great stuff by many artist including Mary Blair!
- A Tinkerbell retrospect
- Peter’s Playful Prank: Storybook – Listen and read along to a story about Peter and is friends
- Song Selection Screen – Play your favorite Peter Pan song with or without lyrics so you can sing along
- The ability to play the full version of the with lyrical subtitles only during the songs so you can sing along (always a great feature for the little ones who need to learn the words)
- A sneak preview of the upcoming Tinkerbell feature
- The Fast Play feature – Still not sold on this feature, but I like the idea in theory
