As many of you might have read, plans are in the works to change “It’s a Small World”. The changes would include the addition of Disney Characters like Mickey and Donald at key points in the attraction and if you believe what it being said…the complete removal of the rainforest section of the ride. This section would be replaced with a star spangled tribute to…wait for it…America. Wow, it really is becoming a smaller world.
Now I agree the ride itself might need an overhaul, but not one that dilutes its message. In suck a cynical and divided world its good to keep quaint reminders of hope. Maybe I am weird, but I find it especially nice when that quaint reminder is maintained by a multi-national behemoth.
As you may have guessed a campaign is already underway way to voice dissent. So if you would like to see this ride kept in its original state or are just a big Mary Blair fan. Join the Save the Rainforest campaign.

I am saddend by the change of the ride, I can understand the mechanical changes that are being made, but the ride is IT’S A SMALL WORLD, not meant to be about fake created characters and the USA, now really GOD BLESS THE USA, for sure, but the ride is supposed to be about the WORLD. Keep it that way. That is why this ride is so special, I remember going on it with my mother and father and them explaining the other “worlds” to me and I do look forward to explaining that to my kids. However they will be more inclined to ignore the real meaning of the ride and pay attention to the fictional characters and this is dissapointing.

I agree with you 100% - change the ride, but not the message. Especially since its one of the only Disney attractions left that has a message
