A fire broke out on the set of Disney’s new movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean,” starring Johnny Depp, Geoffery Rush and Orlando Bloom.
An investigation has been launched as to what caused this fire, which broke out in a sound stage where a set was under construction.

Two major films opening this past weekend, Disney’’s “Lilo and Stitch,” and 20th Century Fox’’s “Minority Report,” have practically tied for first place at the box office. Estimates place “Lilo and Stitch” only $1M short of “Minority Report” at $35,800,000. “Lilo and Stitch” opened in nearly 200 more theaters than “Minority Report.”

Geoffrey Rush is negotiating to become Captain Blackheart in Disney’’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. If he lands the role, he will play opposite Johnny Depp in this ride-based film.

Disney is adapting this early eighties TV show to the big screen. I guess they are trying to build a comical superhero franchise of their own. I am not sure how well this will do, these TV show movies seem pretty hit or miss.

The upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film has landed a director. Gore Verbinski, who directed Mouse Hunt and The Mexican , has signed on to helm the project.
The plot still seems to follow the ride closely. We will post more details as they develop.

The Walt Disney Co. announced today that they would be teaming up with Pixar yet again to produce 3 more full-length animation motion pictures.
