Around 250 employees at Walt Disney World’’s reservation center near International Drive were evacuated due to the arrival of a suspicious package addressed to “Eisner.” X-rays showed that the package contained some sort of object with electronics and wires. The evacuations were prompted due to the fact that the suspicious package arrived just one day after the last of 4,000 Disney employees were being let go.

In the end, everything turned out fine. The package was opened after Orange County firefighters and a bomb squad were called in. An electronic talking pen/microphone promotional tool was found inside.

The Pop Century Resort, a value resort at Walt Disney World, has had its opening delayed until March 2002, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The Pop Century Resort, currently under construction, is located near the Carribean Beach Resort, near the Disney MGM Studios.

One reason for its delay, Disney wants a good portion of its amenities to be available to guests, once the resort is open.

A new big-budget Disney fantasy comedy film entitled The Superconducting Supercollider Of Sparkle Creek, Wisconsin was set to be filming in Toronto, Canada this summer. However, filming has been postponed until next Spring.
